Finals Freedom

With the end of the semester quickly approaching, so are college classes. The college classes ending two weeks earlier than normal classes can be seen as a blessing or a curse.

“It feels great! I feel like I have more freedom, and I can hang out with my friends from other schools more!” senior Fia Kauffman exclaimed.

Many students are excited to finally be done with their rigorous courses, to have a free block, and to be able to take a deep breath before next semester.

“I remember as a freshman especially… finals season was like this big, huge thing, but now that I’m a senior, it’s a lot more chill. It doesn’t feel as impending,” senior Mal Memon commented.

With more time on their hands, many students go home, nap, hang out with friends in or around school, or spend time in different classes—as long as the teacher is okay with it.

“I’m going to take it as an off-block and use that opportunity to catch up on classes and study for my other finals,” junior Finley Morado mentioned.

Many students find themselves extra motivated to continue their studies for other classes with the additional time. Having 90 extra minutes can be extremely helpful if you put it to use.

“It really depends on how you use that extra time, in my opinion. If you use it to study for your other finals or get stuff done for college applications, then yeah, it’s really a huge advantage. But if you end up doom-scrolling or just procrastinating on those other things, then it’s just a lot more time you can waste,” Memon declared.

College classes may seem stressful and overwhelming, especially with finals right around the corner, but they can prove to be extremely rewarding and helpful for one’s future.

Kauffman stated, “I would say to just take a class. Even though courses can be hard, it’s a great way to figure out what you want to do in the future and also saves you money.”
