For Jags, By Jags
Almost every Jefferson Academy student who has an Instagram account has heard of the profiles affiliated with their school– the confession accounts, podcasts, but most of all, Jag2Jag.
Almost every Jefferson Academy student who has an Instagram account has heard of the profiles affiliated with their school– the confession accounts, podcasts, but most of all, Jag2Jag.
The student-run profile follows engaging videos for teens, using both JA students and teachers to play a part in recent trends that will gain attention.
“Jag2Jag was inspired by Monarch High School’s MOHI Mix,” Mrs. Luceri explained. “Social Media for Business is the title of the class, but then we dug a little deeper and came up with Jag2Jag, which was kind of just giving a voice to the JA students.”
‘For Jags, by Jags’ is the motto of this social media profile, meaning that a space handled by students helps to give each of them a voice to express themselves with their own ideas.
“My team is honestly the kings and queens of spontaneous ideas,” sophomore Charlie Murray bantered. “Our ideas come randomly at the most unexpected times. When we capture those ideas, though, we spend the most time on preparation.”
The thoughtful and intricate videos created by the staff of Jag2Jag, can take a lot more work behind the scenes than what meets the eye.
“A lot of students’ phones don’t have a USB-C port,” Mr. Cloonan stated. “They have an older iPhone, so the microphones don’t connect. Sometimes the WiFi isn’t the best for doing wireless things, so you have to find a different way to do a lot of things.”
Having fun and creating a sense of community are the biggest draws for students to make these connections.
Mrs. Luceri shared: “We just want to bring light and fun energy to everyone with the content we’re putting out there!”
