Home Turf
“Everybody was really happy and really hyped about it, especially the seniors,” explained sophomore Elliott Parks. “We all wanted to be able to play on that field again.”
Waking up early to get to the field for a morning game, pushing yourself to your limit in a match, feeling the pressure of the clock ticking down. The boys soccer team has been working hard this year and have improved so much since the beginning of the season.
After a long season of having to drive to play at the Broomfield Commons, they were able to round it off by the opening of the field and finally being able to play on home turf.
“Everybody was really happy and really hyped about it, especially the seniors,” explained sophomore Elliott Parks. “We all wanted to be able to play on that field again, it’s way better than the Commons.”
The players on the team have been able to bond over their games and playing in regionals, which really helped improve their teamwork.
“[My favorite part about soccer] is probably the people there,” stated Parks. “It's a really good community and everybody is fun to be around.”
The team has overcome many adversities together, which has brought them even closer and pushed them to do their best.
“I really think we’ve all done really well, especially since we’ve had a lot of injuries, a lot of our starting players had injuries, but we’ve done pretty well,” said senior Troy Brown.
With the high stakes that was felt as the season was nearing a close, there was some tension in the team as they felt that time was running out, but in the end, they learned to come together and work hard.
“We needed to be together and not get mad at each other,” mentioned Brown. “We all know we’re playing for each other, but sometimes it gets frustrating.”
While this season has been tough, the school has the back of our kicking Jags, and people are so proud of how far the team has come.
“Whatever you do, do it together. Do it as a team,” encouraged Mr. Proctor. “It's been a long season, a tough season and being away from the school, but we've battled through, and we've made it.”
