Serving Success
“This is by far the best team I’ve ever played with,” shared McKenna Adams. “I love them all!”
Hearing the ball thump on the gym floor, the lights seemingly getting hotter by the second, playing one’s hard out until that final buzzer blasts. The Jefferson Academy volleyball team fought hard to play in Regionals for the third year in a row, and students and staff are so proud of the team.
“I'm really happy with how we did,” shared junior Ravel LaBerge. “We went into regionals in a much better standing than last year and I think we just grew a lot as a team compared to last year.”
With how much the volleyball team had been training that year, they certainly deserved their spot in Regionals.
“I think we worked really hard,” stated senior McKenna Adams. “We have a lot of people on the team that care a lot about volleyball, and they put their all into it.”
With all they have been through together, the team has really grown close.
“[I love] just being with all the girls and growing all the bonds with them,” explained senior Sofia Garioto. “I feel like without them, volleyball would simply be a dreaded thing at the end of the day without them.”
Although the bonds between teammates are strong, there were some rough patches along the way.
“I think we could have figured out how to work as a team better instead of working and playing as individuals, because that's definitely where we had our downfall,” said Garioto.
Ups and downs are natural in any sports season, but it matters most how teammates can come together and do their best.
“I got closer to a lot of people, and I'm happy with how much we won,” stated LaBerge. “I think it was just a really fun season.”
After a hard-fought season, being on the JA volleyball team will be something that the seniors will certainly miss.
