Everyone uses music in their own ways. From driving to working to getting ready, music is usually an important part of everyone's lives.
For some people, they use music as an escape from their everyday life.
“Music is a way for me to express emotions that I can’t always put into words,” junior Amila Omeragic said. “I enjoy music because it can instantly change my mood.”
Other people use music because it is already a part of their lives, and it can help them in different ways.
“For me, music is a pretty big part of my life since I play piano. Usually it’s a way for me to focus and motivate myself,” junior Yangchen Gray explained.
There are a lot of different genres in music, which makes music diverse and involves a lot of exploration.
“When I say I listen to anything, I mean it. I've probably at least liked everything at some point,” senior Mal Memon stated. “For me, though, the heavier the better; I think the reason why industrial metal and various other industrial subgenres have been my favorite for the past 2-3 years is because they combine elements of both metal and harsh electronic.”
Almost everyone has a favorite song, which includes junior Peyton Sewell, whose favorite song is “Firework” by Katy Perry.
“I love fireworks and fireworks love me,” Sewell declared.
Music is important in everyone's lives and can make people feel different ways at different times.
“Music can make me feel a wide range of emotions, from happiness to sadness and even calmness. It really depends on the song and what memory is tied to it!” Omeragic exclaimed.
