Going out with friends, visiting family, learning a new hobby, this is what Spring Break is all about. After what felt like forever, the break finally arrived in the final quarter of the school year, allowing students and staff a well-deserved rest.

“In the past three years, Spring Break has been the week before my birthday,” said senior Abbi Goltz. “This was the one year that it was on my birthday and I'm happy because it's my last year [of highschool].”

While some traveled and made sure to keep themselves busy, others liked to stay home and relax.

“I feel like [I enjoy my break being] kind of a mix, because I don't like just sitting around all day doing nothing, but at the same time, I also want some time for some things that I want to do,” explained junior Alyssa Grigsby.

Many people went into Spring Break thinking that it would be relaxing, but didn’t realize how much they had planned.

“This is my problem,” expressed Goltz. “I overload myself with a lot of stuff anytime there's any sort of opportunity to and then I complain. I have no time to do anything, but it’s also my fault.”

There are many places to visit and sites to see in Colorado, and many students took advantage of that fact during the break.

“We went to MeowWolf,” shared Goltz. “And then we also got to see Phantom of the Opera on the actual night of my birthday, and we got a spot right underneath where the chandelier drops, very exciting.”

Some students decided to come back to the school to help paint the stage for the upcoming spring play and later musical.

“[Painting the stage was] a brand new thing,” said Ms. Grace, the vocal and music director at JA. “It's so exciting, and everybody that has put time in on it gets to take ownership over that and be so proud that they helped create that new awesome thing.”

While it was nice to relax and not have to worry as much about homework, some students struggled with how fast the break went by.

“There were some things that came up that I realized I kind of forgot to do that I'm gonna have to cram that I wish I had thought of doing,” stated Grigsby.

With all the work that was done on the stage over Spring Break, lots of people are even more excited about the upcoming events in the auditorium.

“The best is yet to come,” announced Ms. Grace. “Now that we have Mr. Grace as a tech director, we have so many more possibilities. It's just really exciting!”
